Dream Disfigured

"One bad apple spoils the bunch."  
I'm curious if, in the produce world, 
this statement is even true.

Or was it simply a tale devised 
to conceal the fact that much 
of the orchard owner's yield was 
a complete and utter failure having 
absolutely no business being looked 
upon as anything but defected, rotting waste.
My son will be nine this year.
This child, seen here, is twelve.
If anyone ever put their 
fucking hands on 
him and...      No.

That, of course, would never happen
It could never happen
See, his skin is neither brown nor black.

Excuse me can someone please point 
me towards the sales department?
I'm here to return my American Dream

Alright, enough is enough.  I've let this blogging thing mutate into some heavy burden dangerously hanging over me and it's time to just suck it up and get back into it.  Part of the reason for this lapse, is that while writing every day about my life is not so foreign to me, this forum, knowing virtual strangers are getting their first impression of me here is.  Another reason for the blogger's block, is that I started off, out the gates, with this how to parenting-type post that I am far from equipped to follow up upon.  This is okay.  My purpose here was always just to jot down anything interesting, funny or poignant that took place in my life, day to day. The Ending of 'The Sense of an Ending' by Julian Barnes: What the Hell Just Happened?

SPOILER ALERT!!!  This is not a review and if you have not read this book (you really should btw) the following will entirely ruin the novel for you. So I was assigned this book for a course - truly enjoyed the read and pretty much accepted what I was told by the narrator and walked away satisfied for the most part. During the following class meeting, there was a heated debate concerning who were the actual parents of young Adrian.  Knowing I had a final paper to write on the novel (or novella, apparently there's a heated debate over this) I thought it wise to give the book a second read. For some reason I read it backwards ten-page chunks at a time.  If you never have done this I highly recommend.  Taken out of the context of the plot, passages read entirely differently.  Anyway, without looking for it I came upon a curious theory which soon snowballed leading to more and more unexpected and shocking discoveries.  For a few days there I became obsessed. A Valuable Technique Regarding The Parenting Of Twin Toddlers: The Zone Defense  For quite some time I knew nothing of this useful parental tactic.  Instead of running it, I went with more of a "corral method", in which I'd spend much of my time bent in half, hunched over awkwardly -- uncomfortably, keeping my miniature herd of offspring in the same locale as they struggled to break free.
